All the things I love is what my business is all about.
Martha Stewart
(And Happy Memorial Day in the United States).
Here’s a card we’ve only seen once in the past five years. It ushers in a week that also will include the Full Moon in Sagittarius this weekend. After the previous two weeks’ Seven of Pentacles, we now welcome the Queen of Pentacles!
Pentacles are ruled by the element of Earth. That means they are concerned with money, career, health, our homes, practical matters, and the physical, material realm. This week, the Pentacles offer us a Court card. This can be complicated by the fact that the Courts may be an actual person we know (we ourselves or someone else), or they might indicate a particular kind of energy being brought to bear.
And they need not be the same gender as that in the card. For convenience’s sake, we will consider this queen to be a woman.
The Queens of the Tarot are, to me, Priestesses, Mothers, and Goddess energy. Rather than the hierarchical power-over of the Kings, they teach us collaboration and cooperation, their nurturing power coming from within.
She is materially secure, even wealthy. She has a great appreciation of beautiful objects, home, and creature comforts. Much like Martha Stewart, quoted above.
This monarch holds the Pentacle gently but firmly on her lap, knowing that there is no disconnect between the material and the spiritual, for to be fully alive is wealth beyond imagination. She knows she is the steward, not the possessor, of her prosperity.
Her palace is outdoors, beneath a rose arbor. The throne is carved with fruit trees and the symbols of ambitious, Earthy Capricorn. And she is surrounded with vines and flowers. There are also mountains and rivers (or lakes) in the background. This is a lush, luxuriant landscape.
This Queen suggests that there’s no such thing as lack to those who are open to the flow of generosity that is the life force itself. Her gifts include robust health, vitality, and sexuality.
The magical hare in the foreground appears in perfect timing, as this week’s Full Moon is often known as the Hare Moon. It is a harbinger of fertility and good fortune.
All of Nature is this Queen’s treasure. She may be a splendid gardener, antiques expert, cook, mechanic, herbalist, animal caretaker, or environmental guardian. She is a trusted guide for appreciating what is sacred in the “mundane.” She is your favorite Earth Mother, nurturer, wealth maker, and skillful pragmatist. Decidedly a no-drama mama, this is the Material Girl at her very best.
Full Hare Moon
The big astrological players this week are, as mentioned, the Full Moon, preceded by a showdown between Pluto and Mars.
Our expert news source and renowned astrologer, Elisabeth Grace, tells us that this is a —
.. potentially brutal square between Mars (action, anger) and Pluto (extremes), exact just after midnight ET/9:02 PM PT. Pay attention to your surroundings — and your interactions with others…
If you have a project that requires physical stamina, use Mars-Pluto to your advantage.
Physicality is one of this Queen’s superpowers. She is all about well-being, and her expertise about good nutrition and caring for our bodies could be very instructive during this clash.
Also on Tuesday, there is:
… a trine between the Sun (leaders) and Pluto (power and resources) at 11:52 AM ET may help stabilize situations that initially appeared volatile or dangerous. I’m thinking, for example, about the potentially explosive chemical tank in Southern California that may have developed a crack in recent days — hopefully allowing pressure to be managed before the situation escalates into catastrophe. At its best, the Sun-Pluto trine reflects competent stewardship, practical realism, and the ability to responsibly manage powerful forces and precious resources.
In addition, Elisabeth tells us that on Thursday:
A trine between Moon and Venus at 8:25 PM ET puts the homeland-security instincts of Venus in Cancer to work for the Scorpio Moon’s strategic agenda.
These influences are not especially conducive to warm and fuzzy feelings. A square between Venus and Saturn — exact at 11:02 PM ET — suggests headlines involving women who mean business (upside), as well as cuts, controls, and losses involving women, the arts, values, and money. In your own world, it may be time for a realistic assessment of responsibility, commitment, and emotional reciprocity in relationships.
Business women – check.
Practical assessments of responsibilities – check.
Commitment – check.
But then there is that Full Moon on Sunday. The granddaughter of one of my long-time favorite astrologers (the late Lance Ferguson), Ellen Kimble, is now the visionary behind his Skywatch Astrology. She adds:
The Sagittarius Full Moon perfects at [4:45 am Eastern], and the tone of this one is different from most. Moon trine Saturn at [9:21 am Eastern/6:21 PDT] adds structural weight to what the Full Moon usually broadcasts as openness. The view widens, but not loosely. Saturn’s trine gives it enough ground to hold whatever becomes visible. This is a grounded Full Moon, which is not the default.
Sagittarius Full Moons tend to reveal where honesty has been deferred and where a larger picture has been obscured by proximity. Saturn’s trine gives that recognition somewhere to settle. The Moon goes void after the trine, and the rest of the day has a quieter quality than the predawn would suggest. What becomes clear tonight doesn’t need to be acted on yet.
If anyone can ground a Full Moon, it is the Queen of Pentacles. Is it only a coincidence that her coin resembles Lady Luna in Her fullness? And she is definitely one of the most patient and methodical of the Tarot court cards. Thus, she offers us some very timely guidance.
Being Held By Mother Earth
As these volatile times continue to produce intense shake-ups, it is a blessing that our lovely Earth Queen offers her strong, stable protection. This Queen offers living reassurance that you are meant to be happy, healthy, and content.
So if you are dealing with your job, home, illness, or other practical concerns, she can help. Who is she in your world?
Nurturing, nest-making, family wealth and wellness, and everything needed for comfort and security are her strengths. Pragmatic and generous, she calls for you to become indigenous to where you live.
Now is the time to understand your personal ecosystem, where your roots are, who your true allies are, and where to turn for shelter, safety, and nourishment.
As the late Joanna Macy, another one of my favorite representatives of the Queen of Pentacles, urges, it is imperative that we actively engage in the “epochal transition from an industrial society committed to economic growth to a life-sustaining society committed to the healing and recovery of our world.”
In what ways do you need to address matters of down-to-earth importance? Are you facing any sort of health issues or financial concerns? Under this week’s waxing Moon that reaches Her climax on Sunday, work to protect and enhance these aspects of your life, with this Queen presiding.
She reminds us that magic is everywhere, and there can be plenty for all. The politics of inadequacy, stinginess, and competition is an illusion created by those who want to hold all the power.
When you are in love with your life, there is no lack. Gratitude begets abundance.
What if we were to live as if the world is our friend? As if we are a part of the interconnectedness of Life, not set apart or exiled from it? Let us begin making decisions as if our children’s future on this planet depends on us.
Allow Nature to shower you with blessings this week. Like the Queen, let your throne be, not in some dreary castle, but in the meadows and forests.
May the things you love most be central to your work and all your life’s endeavors.

Hi Beth. I love your weekly tarot and have done for some years.
The card is apt as we visit the hospital this wk. My husband has finished 6 mths of chemo which was preceded by major surgery. Home and health hold centre place.
Dearest Lizzie – I do hope the nurses all rang that bell they keep for happy chemo completions. And even more so, I hope that you and he will be blessed by this Queen’s calm savvy: preparing delicious, wholesome meals, taking luxurious rest breaks when needed, moving and stretching back into changed physicality, and celebrating the abundant joy of Life Returning.
Most of all, may many, many happy and healthy years lie ahead for you both. Healing blessings for you both. 🙏🏼💚🙏🏼
PERFECT card for my week! After a break of over a year and a half due to RL getting in the way, I have returned to my art class and I am sooooo excited to be back!!!!
🎉 Janet!!! This is HUGE news! May the Queen of Pentacles inspire your hands to shape and create exquisite beauty!
This is such a timely and beautiful message, thank you Beth! We’ve been in financial crisis for months and I’m trying to bring in more money to sustain us. Sometimes, the fear and panic has been all-consuming. I related deeply to your words about money and power, falling in love with our life, gratitude and taking good care of ourselves…all things I struggle with during crises. I felt so hopeful reading your post this week; I truly know we all deserve to be happy, healthy and content and I’m inspired to find ways to cultivate this in my life. Thank you again!!
Erinn – my heart truly goes out to you. What a scary place to be!
At the times in my life that I have been there, I have noticed that one thing that makes it especially difficult is how our culture whispers (and also shouts) in hundreds of ways what economic security is supposed to look like. Where we should be, according to some invisible standard. And also, the horrible, horrible messages of what’s coming for us if we slip up.
I have seen that insidious messaging get worse and worse over the years, until if we’re not running with all our might to “get ahead,” we are headed straight for catastrophe.
That doesn’t mean that financial hardship isn’t real. It very much is. But as this Queen can show us, there are always places of enough-ness we can build on. And, as a Court Card, perhaps there is an actual person you know that can offer advice, support, or some much-needed gentle pampering.
In whatever way she might be coming to visit you this week, including how you yourself embody her, may prosperity and equanimity carry you forward from crisis to comfort. 💖
That is exactly where I am beginning from again this week; finding that place or those places, no matter how small, where I can build enough-ness. Thank you so very much for your kind and compassionate words, Beth. Blessings to you and yours. 💓💖✨
Well, this week, the energies that the Queen of Pentacles represents now show up in the BIGGEST form: The Empress! May the Tarot’s representation of sacred abundance, enough-ness, and luscious plenty embrace you in wondrous, possibly surprising, ways! 💖
Thank you 💕
And always, always, Kathy – thank YOU!
Beth! So grateful for this beautiful queen following our previous pentacles! A colleague reminded me yesterday that we are here at This timing to be a light for others as we make our way thru this experience. It brings my “overwhelm” to a manageable level. The Queen is such good harbinger that my personal resources may remain stable as I keep my light bright for those who need me. Beth, you are one of my brightest lanterns so thankyou for lighting my way so I can light the way for those that need my 🕯️
Thank you for these kind words. Yes, may she help us thrive as we fulfil our heart’s callings, lighting the way for one another. You are a light for me, dear one! Thank you!
Good evening Beth! This post resonated deeply. Thank you so much!
Thank you, Meg. Sorry for the delay replying.. we have been part of the nationwide T-Mobile 3-day outage, just now getting back online. But what a lovely gift to see your words first thing coming back. 💚
“She has a great appreciation of beautiful objects, home, and creature comforts.”
“She is a trusted guide for appreciating what is sacred in the “mundane.’”
“Nurturing, nest-making, family wealth and wellness, and everything needed for comfort and security are her strengths.”
This is an uncannily accurate description of my beloved cousin who just passed away this week after a very long & debilitating illness. She was devoted to nurturing her family and took great joy from the magic in everyday life, like taking in the sunrise while drinking a good cup of coffee. She delighted in making her home a warm & welcome place to her loved ones. Our hearts are all so broken with this untimely loss; for me, this card is a real tribute to this wonderful woman to whom home & hearth meant everything.
Dearest Elisa … My deepest condolences. What a terrible loss for you, and all who loved her. May her memory forever be a blessing, for what is remembered lives.
Sending you love and solace.
Thank you for your kindness, Beth.
