Light the final candle on your Solstice wreath! Ring the bells! The long, slow descent of the Sun has ended, and the ancient promise of rebirth is come. Life and Light now return. This is the day of Solstice – Winter in the Northern Hemisphere, and Happy Summer Solstice below the equator!

We stand on the final threshold before Winter Solstice, the last Sun Day before Solstice. This holy night, as the birth of the Child of Promise draws ever nearer, we celebrate our Joy to the World. May the Keeper of Earth’s deepest places, the roots that are beyond knowing, guide our way home.

Tonight at sunset wherever you are, gather with us to light the next candle in our multifaith Advent ceremony. If you’re counting down to Solstice, it’s your 3rd candle. Tonight, those who are counting down only to Christmas, as well as all who are counting down to Solstice now join together. United at last, from every continent around the globe, we are simultaneously all in the eternal Circle, in our own liminal moment, as evening sweeps across the Earth.

Tonight (Nov. 23), we begin the 21st celebration of the annual Advent Sun Wreath Ceremony. Join us! Tell your friends. Our hurting world needs us, and this is how you may answer Her call. May our prayers be beautifully blessed as we gather across time zones and geography, for in our hearts we are united.

For everyone who is lighting candles counting down to Christmas, it’s time to light your final candle, either tonight, or tomorrow morning, depending on your preferences and perhaps traditions.

By bone and stone, seed and flower, from the darkest caves to the highest mountaintops, this holy evening we now light our Advent wreath’s candles of Joy for the sweet Earth and coming birth.
