The Chariot

The aim of argument, or of discussion, should not be victory, but progress.
Joseph Joubert (1754-1824)

Although I am still limping along without my desktop computer (where many decades of my work lived, then vanished, and is now, hopefully, being recovered), I just couldn’t bear to have the Five of Swords haunting us for another week! So of course, the Tarot being the lovely prankster that it often is, this week’s card made me laugh out loud. Say hello to The Chariot.

Having just visited us back only about a month ago, I hope you’ll indulge my little personal story here. You see, at the same time that my computer went haywire, my car did, too.

It decided to perform its occasional trick of trying to murder me without warning, thanks to the shockingly common, utterly terrifying problem of random unintended acceleration.

So, I have been alternating slogs to the Apple Store with countless hours of researching used cars. My car dealer could not replicate the problem (no one ever can) but they patched up what probably caused it so I can trade it away in good conscience. Which is what I have been working on for days.

That’s why, as of this afternoon, I have purchased a 2019 Chariot which I will take ownership of just ahead of the upcoming Mercury retrograde!

Is this TMI, dear reader? Well, maybe. But it can be helpful to remember that sometimes the cards can be quite literal.

The Full Eclipsed Moon of the Aries-Libra Axis

And so, automobile drama aside, what does the Chariot Tarot card indicate for the week ahead? Well, it certainly reflects the intense potential of the current astrology.

Our exceptionally talented friend Elisabeth Grace writes of this morning’s Lunar eclipse:

In general, lunar eclipses can function as an intense release and illumination, sometimes with heavy emotional involvement, given that the energy of a Full Moon is involved.  Your coping strategy is to trust that whatever is released (which may be experienced as something — or someone — being taken away), is a necessary step in your life’s path.

The illumination may be thought of as a (possibly sudden) awareness of a part of yourself or aspect of your life that needs new avenues of expression. It’s time!

So hitch up the horses and get ready to ride your Chariot down those avenues. Steps to take, indeed.

Incidentally, if you want a personalized account of how this eclipse window affects you, I highly recommend her personalized eclipse insights. Tell her I sent you!

Meantime, she continues —

This lunar eclipse is the third of a series of six lunar and solar eclipses that fall in either Aries or Libra. The North Node is in Aries and the South Node is in Libra. The North Node represents a path to growth.

In Aries, growth comes through positive application of courage, pioneering, inspiration, and a focus on me-me-me. The South Node represents toxic patterns that need to be released because they no longer serve.

In Libra, what no longer serves may include people-pleasing habits that compromise true self-expression; whatever is deemed to be fair or balanced; the ways in which we negotiate with one another; concepts of beauty and aesthetics; concepts of justice and the law; a focus on we-we-we. This lesson started last April and will end next April.

The Chariot follows The Lovers card in the ordering of the triumph cards, hence it is how we proceed after the momentous choice(s) made under the influence of The Lovers. The Chariot indicates: Decision made – now move on full speed ahead, without regrets.

The brilliant Lorna Bevan adds a similar giddyup forecast for the days ahead.

Fasten Your Seatbelts……Into the Seismic Eclipse Tunnel we go

Thanks to a rare celestial arc of Compression–where all the Copernican planets apart from the constantly moving Moon are tightly sandwiched across only 4 signs out of 12 between Pluto in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus – this is a moment of great possibility and also high stakes when the old slips away into the ethers and the new is poised in immanence.

Be prepared for the timelines to shift then shift again in the seismic field of the eclipse tunnel between March 25- April 8th- a time warp of fractals, non- linear events and Chironic life shocks, amplified by Trickster Mercury turning retrograde in Aries from April 8-25th followed by the rare electric Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in Taurus on April 22nd….

Over the next 6 months, situations beyond your control are going to nudge or push you to express a new way of being in the world and how you experience the evolutionary impact of others in your life. This polarity is where the deeply personal interfaces with the entirely impersonal, where you, with your need to be loved, welcomed and accepted, encounter others with completely different agendas.

So, like me, are you feeling nudged? Pushed? Let The Chariot be the vehicle that aligns this momentum with your highest evolution.

Rolling Towards A Better Day

The Chariot is the turning point in the Major Arcana that offers the transition between external, worldly matters and the spiritual, inner journey. It offers liberation beyond either/or, inspiring instead the realization of this and that. It is a vital step on the bridge of discovering our divine interconnectedness.

This week, the holiest of the Christian calendar, there may be a new potential for you that necessitates growth and personal development, as you reach the end of a prior chapter.

Is there literal travel on your horizon this week? Perhaps some long-overdue opportunity for leadership and recognition is now possible.  The Chariot encourages us to seize the day!

It also indicates that as long as we meet it head-on, we can reconcile the strife of opposites, and turn them into collaboration and forward momentum. Thus, when there are disagreements during this fraught crossroads of history, let us heed the advice of Joseph Joubert in the quote above – that any friction is not aimed towards victory, but instead seeks mutual progress and well-being.

Instead of a combative approach, The Chariot urges maturity and the mastery of our emotions. By doing so, we can defuse angry or stubborn extremism. When we take the high road, we can expect a more balanced and wise result.

If the going has been tough, we have little choice but to keep going.  Happily, The Chariot is hitched up and ready to roll.

My card of the week is always a labor of love, but if you’d like to make a donation, I would be most grateful.

Beth, I’m so glad to hear that one of your computers is now working and that you’ve bought a car that is not actively homicidal(!). Thank you for taking the time to draw and interpret a new Tarot card of the week for us. May this week include some restorative time as well. I’m looking forward to some Chariot energy as I’ve been stalled by minor health issues for some weeks now.

Thanks! I hope that all the energy you need flows right along and that you’re already feeling better, Anne.

so glad to hear that you have resolved your ‘chariot’ issue, and progress is happening in the computer front, too. 🙂

Beth March 26, 2024, 11:57 am

Thank you… I am hopeful that my restored computer will be coming home tomorrow, more or less intact. And yes, new (to me) Chariot delivery expected Friday. 🙂

I love the irony, the sense of humour the universe has! literally, you can’t get anywhere – either online, or in real life, until you have a vehicle…a way to move. I am so glad that you are finding both – a new computer/laptop and a new to you vehicle. May both allow you to move smoothly towards your goals in the coming years 🙂 I really hope all your work can be recovered, too. In my own situation, as you know I have health issues that are affecting how I more around, too, literally! It has made me aware of how important my (and our) health is, and how fragile everything is. How to move forward in a good way, that ensures health and respect for everything around me? How do we move in the world? After the choice (the Lovers) comes the action (The Chariot). What action do we take to make our goal, our choice, a reality? interesting and insightful discussion once more, Beth, thank you! Aries – Libra polarity is about the self vs the other, what I want (Aries) and what we want together (Libra) 🙂 Which takes that Lovers and Chariot discussion to a different meaning, too.

That’s really good, Susan. I had not thought of my computer as a Chariot, but of course it certainly is!

Thank you so much for posting this.. what a great insight. Many blessings! xoxo

Best of luck with your new car/chariot!!!! You’ve solved one of your problems and I’m sure the computer glitch is near fixing. I’m told nothing is ever really lost on the computer! Please take care and enjoy some well deserved leisure time.

Beth March 27, 2024, 7:11 pm

Didn’t get much leisure time, but I am typing this from my restored computer… (( knocking wood! ))… Hopefully that’s the end of all THAT mess, and I can head into Mercury retrograde better prepared. Thank you for your good wishes.

Thank you.

Marguerite March 27, 2024, 5:15 pm

What a blessing it was to see this card!!! Like you I was having issues with my computer – bottom line is I need a new lap top and my car acted up but luckily that was a few hunderd dollar fix! Yea! But for reasons I cannot explain I reached out to a lab company that I worked at over 16 years ago for a part time job, even though they were advertising for full time, and I got the job! Thank goodness this was all prior to Mercury going retro-grade. 6 minutes away by car and I could walk also.

I am hoping with candle lit that your computer issues are resolved and that you have not lost any of your files. I cannot even imagine. I am glad that you got a new car and that has been dealt with. Car issues are so stressful!

Sending you much love and blessings and many many thanks for your wonderful words of wisdom…

Beth March 27, 2024, 7:13 pm

I have just this very moment booted up my computer to answer, Marguerite. Sorry you, too, are having tech problems. Looking forward to putting all this in the past… and good wishes for you, too.

Blessings to us all.

You are born to fly,
and in dreams
you remember
the soul has wings.
