Once upon a time…
I was born at Ft. Jackson military base in South Carolina (Sun on the Cancer/Leo cusp, Libra ascendant, Moon in Scorpio, and a pile-up in my 10th house), the first of two girls and two boys.
My family would tell you that from my earliest childhood, I marched to the beat of my own, very different drum.
For instance, although my Southern family was very conservative and traditional, and I spent much of my childhood in the deep South, by the time I was in high school, I was quite involved in the civil rights movement as well as protesting the war in Vietnam (much to my career colonel Dad’s dismay).
For just a kid, I was also unusually spiritual. I can’t remember a time when I was not seeking to deepen my connection to the Divine and to the hidden worlds that I sensed were just beyond the veil of the ordinary.
The woodland spirits where I spent my summers in the mountains near Roanoke, Virginia, my encounters with the Good Folk, and the animal guides of my childhood (including Owl, of course) were all very important for me. From the intuition that I inherited from my mother’s Irish side of the family to my later explorations of the world’s great religions, I was a born mystic.
After being fascinated by the I Ching and astrology (calculating charts myself, by hand, mind you), one day in 1972, at the famed Subterranean Circus in Gainesville, Florida, I stumbled upon the first Tarot deck I had ever seen: the Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot.
That was it. From first sight, it felt like a beloved friend. I still have that deck; in fact, it is the same one I use for my Card of the Week that I share here with you!
So, for 48 years, the Tarot has been a profound, lifelong companion and guide for me and for those with whom I share my gifts.
As one of my teachers used to say, “It is good to know who taught one’s teachers.”
For most of my life, I have been a devotee of the Divine Feminine in Her many aspects. As such, I have worked with a number of important teachers and traditions, particularly from the Reclaiming and Feri (Victor and Cora Anderson) traditions, and these are fundamental to my personal magical practice.
In addition to my inherited abilities, I have been trained in the psychic arts, including extensive training with the founders of the Crossroads and Blue Iris Mystery Schools in the Pacific Northwest.
Since 2012, I have been a student of RJ Stewart and his partner Anastacia Nutt. I am immersed in RJ’s Celtic mythological traditions, as well as his Faery and UnderWorld traditions. And I am a devoted member of an international circle of Priestesses who work with the Mothers of Change.
I have also attended classes with Caitlín Mathews, Tom Cowan, Orion Foxwood, Michael G. Smith, and others whose work tends to center on Celtic and Western Esoteric magical traditions.
Last but not least, it’s important for you to know that I am a member of the American Tarot Association, and I also belong to the Tarot Association of the British Isles, and the Tarot Professionals. Thus, I am pledged to conduct my work with complete fairness, honesty and a strong code of ethics.
It is also of primary importance to me that I continue to develop my knowledge and skills, so I regularly attend advanced intuitive, magical, and Tarot-focused workshops and seminars.
A Few Recent Highlights

Flirting With Fifty
It is my great privilege to have now spent nearly 50 years helping countless thousands of people gain insight and clarity when faced with the choices and challenges of life.
I am a dream-whisperer, a master-level Tarot reader (based on the rigorous certification criteria set in the past by the American Tarot Association), and a devotee of the written word.
As a seer and spiritual guide in the non-ordinary realms, I will show you the secret gardens of your inner wisdom. I can help you understand the patterns that give shape and grace to life, and the Mystery that echoes in your dreams and calls to you.
Due to a number of other pursuits, I have cut back my availability for personal readings. I am currently offering a couple of days each month for phone and personal readings at my home.
But my primary focus now is on my writing. And I am still a passionate teacher, having long been on a mission to encourage others to use the Tarot ethically and wisely, as a tool for ritual, healing, and self-discovery. Plus, I continue to lead one of the world’s oldest and most successful Tarot social groups.
So can you tell? I love the Tarot and how it can spark your own power and wisdom. It is my great pleasure to help you do just that.
