WINGS Astrological Tidbits: April – May, 2015

Astro Tidbits

The Burning Seed Inside

Congratulations! We made it! We are still standing, as the biggest astrological drama in many generations now begins to subside.

Since 2012, there have been seven direct strikes in the clash between Pluto, planet of death and transformation, and Uranus, the wild card and revolutionary of the planets. In between the direct punches, the two have been dancing within one volatile degree of one another.

Now picking up the pieces in the aftermath, we are just beginning to see what the repercussions are as the waves of conflict between the two abate.

Time, of course, will tell, but in the meantime, the good news is that we need not brace ourselves for the extremely stressful direct body blows between “these two monsters of enforced transformation,” as Lynn Hayes describes them.

However, Pluto is still going to be a force to be reckoned with.

Pluto Goes Retro

PlutoAstrologer Judy Joyce explains, “Pluto is sitting still in the heavens (from our view on earth) as it gets ready to turn retrograde on April 16. This makes the Plutonian energies of transformation seem very heavy, very strong and very intense this entire week.”

She goes on to say, “We may feel an increased pressure bearing down upon us, without knowing where it is coming from. This feeling is natural, so don’t be alarmed if it occurs. It will start to fade by the following week.

“Because the Plutonian energies are so powerful during this period, there could be a surge in radical restructuring energies out in the world. The good news is Pluto will start to move away from its close square to Uranus.  The radical restructuring energies could ease up a bit in the months ahead.”

Robert Brown, of Writings in the Sky, adds, “Pluto only moves about three degrees every year so his backwards movement will stall us in our tracks. While Pluto is retrograde, the changes we make will be internal. Many of us will eat better, fast, or take other measures to overcome health obstacles. This is especially true for Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. Regenerate your life while Pluto is retrograde.”

Jupiter Moves Forward At Last

JupiterIn the good news department, Robert tells us, “Jupiter, retrograde in Leo since December 7, 2014, [went] direct April 8. Jupiter brings about opportunities to grow, prosper, learn, and even travel. Leos will certainly find life a bit easier to make happen as will Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius. Wherever Jupiter is transiting in your chart is where life will begin to open and move forward.

“Once Jupiter goes direct, he will continue to trine Uranus in Aries until May 28. What does that mean? It means that the adventure and new cool stuff you have been trying to get going will begin to come to fruition.

Leo, Sagittarius, and Aries receive the most benefit, as all their visions that would not manifest previously will at last come to pass. It won’t be so bad for the rest of us either.”

Cynthia Novak adds, “If Jupiter is making a favorable aspect in your chart, then this is when you really start to pull what you’ve learned and what you have to teach together. Do you know yourself? Are you ready to move or try that new job? Momentum is strong. Listen to the offer before you jump in. Offers of many kinds appear this spring and April is when the momentum train starts to pull ahead.

“This is good for travel, too. Jupiter is an optimist and loves to share things — new things and old.”

Get Ready for the Aries New Moon

aries new moonIn the period leading up the to the April 18 Aries New Moon, Lynn warns, “a challenging square aspect between Mars (aggression) and Jupiter (expansion) can enhance confidence but it can also raise tempers and create conflicts.

Mars is in Taurus now where it tends to resist behavior that is too radical, but if we try to stifle our resistance it may blow up like a bull (Taurus) in a china shop. Channeling this energy into a project that requires faith and confidence is a helpful way to manage this Mars/Jupiter combination.

The New Moon in Aries arrives on April 18 at 2:57pm, Eastern time. Judy tells us that this very important New Moon will be, “a demarcation… when one phase ends and a new phase begins. The energies for the rest of this month are more positive than they have been in quite some time. We may begin to feel a little lighter.”

However, Lynn reminds us that the Mars/Jupiter effect will be at work in this New Moon.

“Since Aries is ruled by Mars,” she explains, “a forceful Mars aspect at the time of an Aries New Moon suggests that a great deal of energy is likely to be generated by this New Moon.

“Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, and the Aries New Moon occurs in springtime when (in the northern hemisphere) new life is bursting out of every corner.  The Aries New Moon gives us an opportunity to emerge from winter’s hibernation with new goals, new desires, a fresh new start.  Under the Aries New Moon we can put all of the challenges of the past behind us and begin anew with all the innocence of a child but the power of an adult.”

Lynn notes, “This New Moon also contains a force of creative energy, with both Mercury and Venus aspecting Neptune and opening up windows to the divine (Neptune) which facilitate the flow of imagination and idealism.  These aspects continue to affect us for several days after the New Moon.Thoth Prince of Disks

As mentioned before, innovative Mars is in Taurus until May 11. Lance Ferguson reminds us that Taurus is the money sign, so “this is a very good stretch of time to put some muscle into projects that create more prosperity, if not for today, for the long haul.

He adds, “Taurus is also the sign that rules hidden talents. And some folks will stumble upon their gift with Mars increasing the flow of energy to this part of our awareness. This is a very good time to experiment in your life and to try out a new course of action or experience. Your hidden talent may be that you can ride like Roy Rogers or Dale Evans, but you’ll never know it until you get on a horse.

“Got kids? This can be a wonderful time for them to find new interests and to realize they can do more than they thought they could. Challenge them to try something new this month.”

A Peek at May

Mercury Hermes in FlightCan you believe it? In May, we’re headed back to Mercury retrograde land. Already? Yes, it comes about 3 or 4 times each year, which is why it seems ridiculously repetitive. It is.

Of course, by now, you should know you don’t have to really freak out about it. However, this one does come with a warning label.

Lance tells us, “Expect matters to stall and complications to arise once Mercury turns Retrograde on May 18th. This one is in Mercury’s home sign, Gemini, which tells me we can expect powerful winds and weather as well as hearing people saying things they really wish they hadn’t during the Rx cycle…

“I expect extremes in this Rx period: incredibly stupid actions and words in the same room with a brilliant review that gets right to the point.

Gemini’s symbol is the Twins — you can also expect more choices/options appearing in these three weeks—take your time with decisions and purchases and shop around if you are ready to buy. You will make better choices and be more certain of what you really want if you will let the Rx cycle end before you buy.”

Cynthia adds that Mercury retrograde is “a great time to reflect and review plans. Jupiter may want the biggest and best whatever, but do you really want to pay for it for years and years? Mercury loves to multitask, but during this period of time it’s about narrowing down your focus and investing time and ideas to spring forward in June.”

But her overview of May is very clear. “Jupiter, the bountiful, fertile planet of the heavens helps us find our way. The Full Moon on the 3rd is particularly good to see where you’ve faltered and how to dig through the obstacles. If they are personal obstacles, old or new, then get some help and invest in the time it takes.

“If your obstacles to success are time, then find out what or who can share the load and the success. Take the steps and keep on going.

Saturn helps Mars slow down and get his footing. This really helps clarify who you are and where you are going. Caution: Mars can have tantrums. Saturn helps you build, but only if you use your wisdom or age to direct Mars’ passion and drive. Jupiter is strong for success and sharing.”

One other heads up in May.

Lance warns, “A double set of caution lights are up for May 25, Memorial Day. The Skywatch is extremely dangerous as a series of seven stress markers line up in the heavens one right after another.

Venus squares Uranus suggesting unexpected weather or conditions that morning. Mars squares Neptune that afternoon increasing the danger and chance of accidents around water related activities, booze, drugs and the irresponsible. The Moon will make four squares in a row and oppose spacey Neptune throughout it all and into the evening hours. And Mercury is retrograde, adding another layer of confusion to the day.”

Might be a good holiday for a staycation.

The Bottom Line

I leave you with this splendid summation from Lorna Bevan, including the quote she chose from Michael Meade:

As we wander through the psychic debris of seven Uranus Pluto Squares and a total Lunar eclipse (April 4) at the very last degree of the zodiac, each of us has one foot in the Dream Time and the other in a fragmenting world.

In April, as the old archetypes of Pisces and Aries are transformed, the leitmotif of 2015 can lead you through the labyrinth if you follow its golden thread.

To survive and thrive in the post Uranus/Pluto world, start now by expanding your emotional connection from your small self out into the primal matrix, into the web of life, out of the virtual web – where the world of humans, nature, climate, animals, and birds matters as much as you do.

Make a conscious shift towards true intimacy, away from the relentless industry of self-preoccupation.

Live a bigger life in these times; to get closer to this burning seed inside; to recover the importance of the sacred, the importance of myth. Notice that every event – inner or outer – has a hidden meaning trying to be revealed, a mystery trying to reveal itself.  ~ Michael Meade

Until next time, may the stars shine brightly for you.
