An Exclusive Personal Interview about the Emperor Year

Responsibility to yourself means refusing to let others do your thinking, talking, and naming for you; it means learning to respect and use your own brains and instincts; hence, grappling with hard work.
Adrienne Rich

If you have been wanting to learn even more about this 2020 Emperor Year, it was my great privilege to be interviewed by the renowned HecateDemeter for her blog.

She asks some very insightful questions, and to be honest, I had a terrific time thinking about them, and then answering to the best of my knowledge.

Like many of you, she wanted to know more about the interrelationship between the current resident of the White House and The Emperor. One fun topic was that if, as I wrote, The Emperor is not a court card, then which court card would best represent Mr. Impeached?

I deep dive into that, as well as a little more about The Emperor as Arthur. Plus I discuss the Soul Card of the United States (which I am a little mortified to admit I’d never considered before), and how it might interact with The Emperor.

All that, plus lots more Tarot adventure and exploration!

If this is something that intrigues you (it sure did me!!), please visit here.

Thank you so much, Hecate! I have been a huge fan of yours for ages, and being a guest in your sacred space was a profound honor!

Loved reading your choice of court card for Trump! I don’t see how or why anyone would disagree with you. Are you familiar with Joan Bunning? Her free Learning the Tarot course is my everyday go-to as I continue my Tarot study. For knights, she lists positive and negative poles, and for the Knight of Wands, the negative pole sums up Trump perfectly! “Boastful, thoughtless, endangers self and others, has a chip on his shoulder!” See: http://learntarot.com/wkn.htm It makes me wonder — can you think of a person in the public eye (or a fictional character) who epitomizes the positive energy of the Knight of Wands? Bold, adventurous, confident…and believing in something (other than him or herself)?

    knight of wands, reversed…perfect!

enjoyed reading the interview. it was interesting to think of the US as an independent nation having come into being under the influence of the hierophant, perhaps in reaction to/evolution from emperor influence. i would like to think that the next evolution of it might be under the influence of the lovers…
