Inspiring Enchantment & Illumination with Tarot & Intuitive Guidance

Happy Birthday to All You Beautiful Virgos!

The constellation VirgoGood advice is always certain to be ignored, but that’s no reason not to give it.
~ Agatha Christie, September 15, 1890
(Sun and Ascendant in Virgo)

The Sun entered the sign of Virgo this morning at 12:46 am (Eastern Daylight Time).

People born under the sign of Virgo sometimes get a bad rap as being no-fun fuss-budgets, and repressed control freaks. This is unfair and untrue.

They simply believe that excellence is a requirement for a virtuous, worthwhile, and fulfilling life. Their sign’s name is also often misunderstood, for Virgo is not about literal virginity or celibacy – but more about modesty and discretion. After all, the Goddess that rules over Virgo is none other than the lush, fertile Goddess of the Harvest, Ceres.

So in the right time, in the right place, with the very carefully chosen, Virgo can be quite voluptuous and generous.

Virgo people often have an innate desire to be of service. In addition, Virgo rules the physical body, the temple of the spirit.

For Virgo, caring comes in the form of finding workable solutions to everyday problems. Thus, Virgo is the pragmatic problem-solver, able to focus on details that others may overlook. As double Virgo Dame Agatha Christie would suggest, if a Virgo gives you advice, pay attention!

Virgo is one of the especially gifted healers of the zodiac and they are often remarkable doctors, nurses, teachers, therapists, researchers, scientists, and engineers. Virgos tend to have keen intellects, and hold themselves to high standards.

They are also very discriminating about those with whom they associate. They usually have excellent judgment about business matters and are not easily imposed upon or deceived.

While the Sun is in Virgo – For Everyone
(August 23-September 22)

According to some traditions, when the Sun moves into the sign of Virgo, we celebrate the Month of Isis (the great Goddess, not the poorly-translated acronym for the terror group). Therefore, this is a time for honoring and cultivating the creative and healing power of the Divine Feminine. May the Goddess make it so, as it is increasingly evident that many of the world’s ills are directly related to the toxic, entrenched systems of misogyny.

In addition, astrologers Annie Heese and Adam Banks tell us, “Our focus shifts to the pieces of the puzzle–the little details of our lives. It is now time to take care of practical concerns. Tending to the details of everyday life may not sound like loads of fun, but it can certainly free us from unnecessary stress that results from “collecting” odds and ends of unfinished business.

“This is an ideal time to get organized, to do detail work, and to improve communications on the job.”

In addition, Diane Lang (aka Neith, at Libra Seeking Balance) has noted, “The Leo party is over for the year. Here in the northern latitudes, we are entering harvest season when the crops planted under the Taurus Sun are mature. Days are growing distinctly shorter, the occasional leaf is starting to turn and we know autumn is just around the corner. Virgo is traditionally the sign of the harvest and often the maiden representing Virgo is depicted holding a sheaf of wheat.”

Astrologer Auntie Moon adds, “Our behavior and perceptions shift to noticing and working on the details. The urge is toward being meticulous–you know, cleaning with q-tips to reach all the nooks and crannies. Close inspection takes a lot of courage. We’re going to find some icky stuff and we’re going to have to clean it up.” And she’s not just referring to housecleaning, either!

May any such necessary cleaning up — physical, emotional, or soulful — result in fresh, wholesome goodness ahead.

And may Virgo’s gift to all be healing, virtue, and our work being well and fruitfully done!

    Virgo homage

Virgo is a blessed and beautiful Sun sign.
There is something very pure about a Virgo, no matter what muck s/he may fall into.
You can be hypercritical, but it’s not out of meanness, but a desire to bring out the best.
You are hard workers, because you don’t think of it as hard work, but as what needs to be done to make the real as close as possible to the ideal.
    You are practical, yet magical.
You have a vision and no doubt that that vision can be realized.
Virgo is the sign of the Vestal Virgin, consecrated to the gods, and bringing that spiritual consciousness into the everyday.
Virgo is the sign of the farmer, working in the fields to bring forth the harvest to feed the community.
Virgo takes care of the devil in the details, counts the angels dancing on the pin, and serves both commoner and king all in a day’s work.
