Tarot Card of the Week, Nov. 25-Dec. 2, 2013: Three of Wands

Three of WandsPatience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting.
~ Joyce Meyer, Spiritual Inspiration

Having visited once earlier this year, we again welcome the Three of Wands to guide us this important holiday week.

In the numerology of the Tarot, threes are the expansion cards, the creative growth that comes from the initiation of One combined with the duality of Two.

In the Qabbalah Tree of Life, this card is a component of Binah, the third of the ten Sephiroth. Its meaning is Understanding and, like all of the threes, it is also associated with the Queens of the Tarot. It can be interpreted as movement and change, synthesis and manifestation, yet not quite yet fully realized.

Of course, Wands are associated with the element of Fire. They represent creativity, magic, change, manifestation, action, and passion.

Here we see a calm, stately figure, with his back turned, looking from a cliff’s edge at the ships passing over the golden sea. Three staves are planted in the ground, and he leans slightly on one of them. He has previously launched his dreams into action, and is calmly waiting the arrival of success he knows he has worked for.

He appears to be standing in a magical doorway, a threshold of thoughtful calm before the activities ahead.

As we all are well aware, the holiday sales hype goes into a frantic overdrive this Thanksgiving week in the U.S., and anyone who is in business is now on the lookout for results, hoping to see their ships come in.

According to the National Retail Foundation, 20 to 40 percent of yearly sales for small and mid-sized retailers take place within the last two months of the year. It’s really the make-it-or-break-it moment for many businesses.

This visit from the Three of Wands suggests that this is an ideal opportunity to look ahead. Even though you may be at your busiest, schedule time to make plans that will pay off for you later. You are being given a chance for a big-picture kind of understanding.

It is also the biggest travel week of the year, and weather forecasts in the U.S. do not look benevolent. Although there may be delays, the Three of Wands suggests that this can be productive time if we will exercise our patience.

Even as all our activities, both work and social, begin to stack up and vie for our attention, this is a great time to lay the groundwork for a successful future.

What are you hoping to attract to yourself through your best creative efforts? With whom do you wish to share your energy and passion? To what course of action are you ready to commit?

Use your creative visualization to name and know your deepest desires this week. Any waiting you may encounter is a gift of time. You have the blessing of the Universe if you plan wisely and clearly.

Then in the days to come, you can give your full commitment, and expect success!

May your best desires return to you threefold.

Safe travels and Happy Thanksgiving!
