Dark of the Moon
Dark of the Moon
Plant a seed tonight
Dark of the Moon
What we envision
Will come to be
By the Full Moon’s light.
Blessings of the New Moon in Libra, which is today, at 8:34pm (Eastern time).
Here in North Carolina, we like to say that “Fall is for planting,” because, to be honest, our sweltering Summers are not much fun in the garden.
But these crisp, gorgeous days are ideal for putting in all those green Beings who like to get established slowly — enjoying the quiet pace of Winter while sending down strong roots, in order to burst into growth and blossoming in the Spring.
So this juicy New Moon is a lovely time to make your wishes, not just for the completion of the Full Moon in two weeks, but for those desires that need some fallow time to silently, secretly unfold, only to appear in splendor, when warmer days return next year. What seeds will you be planting tonight?

In addition, this New Moon is heavy with importance as the opening way for a complex, challenging array of astrological energy later this month and through year’s end. So I am sharing the wisdom and guidance of my friend Rhea Wolf:
New Moon in Libra: Gateway to the Eclipse Season
by Rhea Wolf
The New Moon in Libra on Friday October 4th is the gateway for our upcoming eclipses. Though not an eclipse itself, it will continue to build the energy up until the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Aries on October 19.
The Libra New Moon asks us to see the other in ourselves, to see ourselves in the other. It seeks harmony, but not a placating or repressive kind of harmony. Libra in its fullest beauty demands that we allow the differences, shadows and blemishes to show so that they can be incorporated into the final product.
And then we have all the uncompromising, self-centered, crazy-talk of elected officials in Washington DC. The government is currently shut down as I write this, which means that what is essential to our government (war) keeps going while what is non-essential (everything else) is thrown under the wheels.
If the ridiculously out-of-touch corporate and government machines can’t be good examples, at least they can serve as terrible warnings.
This upcoming set of eclipses last occurred back in 1995-96, which was the last time the United States government shut down. What goes around, comes around, so they say.
What can we collectively learn from this? And what can you do about it?
As we enter through the doorway into this semi-annual time of Big Freakin’ Changes, begin by telling yourself the truth.
As a Venus-ruled Air sign, Libra can use inauthentic language to inspire or twist terrible words into something palatable. At the core of this conundrum, as Libra searches for beauty, it often needs just to be honest.
With so much at stake in our world and our personal lives, ask yourself these questions: How have you been lying to yourself? What are the lies the larger culture, government, institution tells you? Under what conditions are you willing (or unwilling) to compromise?
Sabian Symbol for 11-12 Libra: Miners emerge from a mine.
“Go to Heaven for the climate, Hell for the company.” ~ Mark Twain
“A genuine odyssey is not about piling up experiences. It is a deeply felt, risky, unpredictable tour of the soul. ” ~ Thomas Moore
The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon is miners surfacing from a deep coal mine. Perhaps we will all emerge from the darkness underground in order to breathe fresh air again.
Returning from the underworld, from a deep journey into the self, making it back to the air with the wealth contained in the earth, the treasures from the journey.
Play with this image in your imagination, art, daydreaming or writing. See what it reveals to you.
