Today is the last day of the month, and so is sacred to the great Triple Goddess, Hecate. Although our ancestors designated Her day as the last day of the lunar calendar, I believe it is still appropriate to honor Her at this time in the modern solar calendar, as Queen of the Night and the Goddess of Witches.
Hecate is our guide at the crossroads: physical, Otherworldly, and also at the turning points of our lives. She is a fierce protector of women and children, a mighty advocate for the disenfranchised, and She who teaches us magic and the ancient Mysteries.
She charges us to protect those on the margins of our society — certainly not to shame them or make worse their burdens, as is the fashion among many currently in power. Such actions will have consequences, for Hecate is an unflinching agent of justice.
Now, even as everything in the northern Hemisphere is rushing towards the great climax of growth and light of Summer Solstice, Hecate reminds us that we are in a cycle: growth and decay; birth, death, and rebirth.
As Summer begins to unfold for us, our neighbors south of the Equator are dancing on the edges of Yule. This is the deeper harmony that informs our world and makes richer our lives.
In this, great Hecate is our teacher and guide.
May we follow Her example, bringing all our wisdom to bear. Let us honor and give thanks for all the components life’s cycles and change, as She has guided and called us.
Blessings to you.
