The plum tree, dwindling, contains less of the spring;
But the garden is wider, and holds more of the moon.
~ Zen quote
This is quite a Full Moon, isn’t it? She kept waking me up last night, like someone had left the lights in our bedroom on! As the leaves fall, and our woods reveal the skies once more, Lady Luna’s full beauty and power are majestic indeed.
She is full in the sign of Taurus today, at 12:27pm EST. This is the second of five Full Moons occurring at 29 degrees of their sign. In other words, they come right at the end of the sign.
Astrologers Annie Heese and Adam Banks write,
“Full Moons always pit opposite signs of the zodiac against each other, but also invite us to work to achieve a balance between the opposing energies. The contrast between earthy, practical, peace-loving Taurus and emotional, transformative, crisis-oriented Scorpio comes full bloom today.
“The Moon in Taurus wants us to find emotional fulfillment through the simple, tangible things in life, while the Scorpio Sun draws our attention to complexities, intangibles, and mysteries. The Full Moon illuminates this conflict between form (Taurus) and transformation (Scorpio), and between collecting (Taurus) and sharing (Scorpio).
“This is a passionate and creative Full Moon, ripe with possibilities and learning experiences. Intimate relationship matters, such as personal comfort levels and values as well as sexuality, figure prominently now.
“The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time—a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.”
And Jeff Jawer adds, “The opposition of the Sun and Moon in the fixed signs of Scorpio and Taurus is often a showdown over values. Resistance to change is a common response to a crisis over money or personal desires.
“However, the conflict between self-indulgent Taurus and transformational Scorpio is reduced by 90-degree squares to both from imaginative Neptune. Instead of struggling over limited resources and contrasting needs, this dissolving planet reveals enough common interest for comfort and hunger to work as allies in pursuit of emotional and material fulfillment.”
Last but (by far!) not the least, Stephanie Gailing reminds us,
“Today is the last day of Scorpio. And true to the sign, the day is filled with intensity and transformation, since we are under the influences of the Scorpio/Taurus Full Moon.
“And just like Scorpio, which likes to hold on dearly to the end, and then releases fully and with determination, the Full Moon may be profound but then its energies may seem to (relatively) quickly let go. That’s because just over an hour after the Full Moon, the Moon moves from hold-steady Taurus to curious and light-hearted Gemini while sixteen or so hours later, the Sun moves out of plunge to-the-underworld Scorpio into high-flying Sagittarius.”
May your Full Moon rites be most magical and richly blessed!
