Inspiring Enchantment & Illumination with Tarot & Intuitive Guidance

Tarot Card of the Week: June 7-13, 2010

The Master sees things as they are,
without trying to control them.
She lets them go their own way,
and resides at the center of the circle.

— Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching

This week we welcome the Two of Pentacles.  In it, we see a young man dancing as he juggles his two disks. Wearing his clown hat, he stands on a stage, like a performer, with a lemniscate (the infinity sign) looping around the two Pentacles, suggesting there is magic at work. Or perhaps, since the Pentacles correspond to the element of Earth and are focused on material matters, his financial dealings may have a spiritual dimension.

In the background we see two ships riding the waves – cruising the ups and downs of life. Perhaps this is not the smoothest sailing, but more like a roller coaster ride. Is it frightening, or is it exciting?

This week, we may have a lot on our plate. Many balls are in the air, changes that we are faced with. The only way to handle it all is to be playful and focused at the same time.

For months, even years, astrologers have been warning that this June is when the pivotal planetary drama we’ll be seeing later this Summer kicks into high gear. We are already seeing a wildly volatile global market that financial analysts are having trouble predicting or even explaining. Or could this card perhaps be an image of literal Earth changes?

How do we multi-task and deal with all of our priorities in such times? If you have been one of the casualties of the recession and are out of work, how do you manage your bills and expenses? If you are still employed, you are probably doing your own job, plus the work of others who have been let go. There is lots of juggling going on these days, and little of it seems fun.

However, the Two of Pentacles offers us another view. If we can let go of the stress, and train our reflexes to be both relaxed and ready, juggling becomes a form of meditation in motion. To be a good juggler, you have to come to a place of softening, of unfocused focus. The mind quiets; the hands give, and receive; they take, they toss; the circle goes around and around. Flow happens.

With all the uncertainty that is now in play, perhaps we are being prompted to learn how to acquire and let go in a harmonious, light-hearted way.

So, how might you choose to focus on those things that, although they may remain in flux, still leave you energized and challenged in positive ways? When is enough enough? Is this an opportunity for you to release that which does not nurture you?

Are you currently juggling a number of demands? Are your income and expenses a constant balancing act?  Perhaps you can begin to handle these in ways that are less overwhelming, and more playful. You have the skills you need, just remember to be flexible and adaptable if surprises come your way.

Now is not the time to be rigid or fearful, nor is it the time to take on additional responsibility if you can avoid it. Instead, the Two of Pentacles encourages us to lighten up, and center ourselves in the cycles of change.

This week, mind your time, health, and your money with clear attention. Balance your checkbook, stick to your budget. Go with the flow of the transitions that may be creating shifts in and around us. Stay as grounded as possible, yet still light on your feet.

Remember that sometimes a side step, or even a back step is the wisest way forward. Dance through whatever you encounter and keep your wits and good humor flowing.

Thank you, Beth. :=) For creating and posting these gems of wisdom *each week* for us. I look forward to them each Monday…”oooh, what’s next?” By the end of the week I find I’ve drunk in a new understanding of each of these cards and have found the wisdom written here needed and appropriate some-how, some-way each time.

Great post, Beth! It totally spoke to where I am right now. This morning I pulled the Two of Swords, and for me, at this time, it was about being ok with not knowing the next step and accepting that this is where I am while at the same time being open to change. I recognize my desire for change in struggle with my fear of it. As I was thinking about the swords, the balance of the two of pentacles came to mind… and then I came here and read your terrific reading! Thanks!

Actual juggling connects both parts of the brain, right and left, thereby increasing awareness.
It is quite fun picking 3 juggling balls and training.

Beth Thank you so much for your website. I look forward to each monday, and feel the same as Star, in that it is uncanny how the cards of the week mirror my own life, and my own personal readings I do for myself. Thank you also for the free reading you gave me back on national tarot day. I had been meaning to send you a note for that, but have been on the go for the past few weeks. Many thanks for ALL you do. : ) <3
