Artist unknown – if you recognize this, let me know; I’d love to give credit!
Dreams pass into the reality of action. From the actions stems the dream again; and this interdependence produces the highest form of living.

More exercises as we complete Recovering A Sense of Strength. If you work on these over the weekend, I know they will yield many fruitful, creative discoveries! Then next week, we’re ready for a new chapter!
First, list five things you are not allowed to do. Julia’s examples are “kill your boss, scream in church, go outside naked, make a scene, quit your job.”
Well, you are the director of this movie, so find a way to make it happen — as art! Make a drawing, painting, sculpture, song, theatrical event! Collage it. Put on some music and dance it!
Next up, an exercise Julia calls Style Search. List twenty (yes, twenty! It’s easy!) things that you like to do. Maybe the same twenty you’ve listed in other similar exercises (yes, some of this is getting repetitious.. That’s what some exercises are, right? Reps?).
Or maybe these will be new, since you’ve come a long way, baby! As you list these, answer the following questions:
* Does it cost money or is it free?
* Expensive or cheap?
* Alone or with somebody?
* Job related?
* Physical risk?
* Fast-paced or slow?
* Mind, body, or spiritual (or all)?
The next exercise is another fun one. Plan a perfect day in your life as it is now. Use the information you’ve gotten from the exercises above.
Now, plan a perfect day in your ideal life. No restrictions. Allow yourself to be and to have everything your heart desires. Your ideal environment, job, home, circle of friends, intimate relationship, recognition and respect in your art field. No limits – your wildest, most expansive dreams!
Lastly, perhaps this very weekend, the final exercise is to choose one particularly festive, exciting, or inspiring aspect from your ideal fantasy life day. And make it happen, allow yourself to live it. For example, you might not be able to move to the West Bank in Paris just yet, but you can still listen to avant-garde jazz and enjoy a cappuccino and a croissant.
Play with this. Have fun. Allow yourself to attune to the feelings of your dreams coming true.
