Soul Retrieval for the U.S. and Us

And wherever YOU live!

Dr. Phoenix writes:

President John F. Kennedy said in his inaugural address, “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.” More recently, President Barrack Obama put out the call for personal responsibility and commitment to being of service to our country. These two calls to action, each in their own time, had and are having a monumental affect on all of us.

I asked myself recently what I, as a private citizen, could do that would be of service to my country. And that private question has birthed an event that I’m honored and humbled to share with you.

According to ancient wisdom traditions called Shamanism, everything has a soul or spirit, including a country. As I was thinking about both Presidents’ words, I realized that, as a nation, we have lost our soul. We have lost our spiritual compass. Instead of living in spiritual alignment with our values, we have tortured prisoners of war, and the Patriot Act has eroded our personal freedoms.

Our financial institutions have been toppled by marginal lending practices, and our automobile industry has been destroyed thanks to a lack of commitment to quality and fuel efficiency. And that’s just what’s been happening recently.

WWII; the Korean Conflict; the Vietnam War; the assassinations of John and Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X; Watergate; 9-11; and the Iraqi War are all contributing factors and classic symptoms of spiritual ailment. Shamanic practitioners even have a name for it – it’s called “Soul Loss.”

Soul Loss occurs when traumatic events cause parts of the soul to break off and retreat into spiritual realms for safekeeping. Over the last seven decades, the U.S. has had more than its share of traumatic events, and we, as citizens, have suffered, perhaps more than we realize.

I remember the tears of disillusionment and loss on the faces of American citizens during these troubling times. I saw the anguish and fear that was present in those I spoke with following these occurrences.

I witnessed the riots and the warnings of further attacks to our country. I’ve been a member of a society so frightened it has willingly allowed basic freedoms to be removed in order to feel safe. And, now, I am convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that we, as a people, have suffered soul loss on a grand scale.

I give credit to those in charge who are trying to fix what has happened to our nation. But while bailouts and similar solutions appear logical on the surface, they simply don’t address the issue on the level it is rooted – the spiritual level.

So, at best, they are a bandage on a festering, deep wound. As a Shamanic practitioner myself, I know that before soul loss can be remedied, the negative energy intrusions suffered must be removed by Shamanic ceremony. The removal happens during a meditative journey into non ordinary reality and a “cutting away” ceremony, and this is what makes room for the positive to return.

Shamanic belief also states that the lost pieces of our souls can be returned to us through a ceremony called Soul Retrieval – and I just happen to be a Shamanic Practitioner who has had the honor of performing numerous successful Soul Retrievals for individuals. Why not, then, for the U.S.? And this thought was the seed that spurred me to create an event called Soul Retrieval for the U.S. and Us to be held on April 18th.

According to friends who study astrology, the alignments in the heavens indicate that this is an auspicious date for this event. There are no negative aspects and the moon is waning; a good time for letting go and allowing space for newness to enter. I am not charging for this event. I want to perform the ceremony for all of us, simply because it’s the right thing to do.

I have chosen a fitting location and other people across the country have asked to participate. I believe that the more people who take part, the greater and more immediate the impact.

I ask that you support me in answering this call. You will play a critical role by offering energetic support through drumming, rattling or simply holding positive intent. If you are not able to attend in person, I request that you still add your positive energy and intentions at the time of the event – wherever you are.

Collectively, we can make a monumental difference in this time of rebound and change in our nation.

Blessed be your work on the 18th and may great healing come of it – both for the US and for us all.

May I ask a question? I’m a student of astrology, but have always been drawn to all modalities of healing. For the last year-and-a-half, I’ve felt a strong interest (though I’m quite left-brained) to receiving Shamanic training. But in examining my own heart, I realise that even more than my desire to heal others, I want the training to heal myself and walk in safety in the world, which so often makes me feel very vulnerable, unprotected and alone. Is this a bad motivation to undertake shamanic training? Are only altruistic motives appropriate?

Thanks for your wonderful blog. I read it every day.

What a wonderful idea. I’ll surely lend some time.

Hi, Ninth! These are good questions. My own understanding of the shamanic path is that it is usually one of service to the wider community, but quite often has its genesis in one’s need for personal healing.

However, I would recommend that you contact a practitioner directly with your questions, either nearby you, or else Dr. Phoenix. I’ve known her for over a decade, and she is a lovely, warm, very welcoming person, and I know she would be glad to talk with you. If you go to her web page that discusses her classes, you will find a link for her email.

And thanks so much for your kind words about my blog. I am glad to know you are here.

    Best wishes on your quest.

Thanks for the advice and the link Beth, both very useful.

Hope it went well yesterday. It seemed a kinder, more serene day than we’ve enjoyed for ages, energy-wise.
