Inspiring Enchantment & Illumination with Tarot & Intuitive Guidance

Tarot Card of the Week: Dec. 22-28

The Eight of Wands
The earth has grown old with its burden of care
But at Christmas it always is young,

The heart of the jewel burns lustrous and fair

And its soul full of music breaks the air,

When the song of angels is sung.

— Philip Brooks

Another visit from the Eight of Wands, which we’ve had several times this year. This is the only one of Pamela Colman Smith’s Minor Arcana cards with no human figure or parts in it. In fact, there are no figures, animals, or celestial bodies of any sort.

The eights of the Tarot are about abilities, self-directed action, and moving ahead. And of course, Wands are about fire, action, desire, growth, and energy. So here we see action at its essence – without attachment to particular circumstance or personality.

Yet we can also see that this is not chaos. The Wands are moving swiftly forward in an orderly, focused way. While there is a lot in motion, it is also moving with simplicity.

Now, with the climax of the holiday season, many of us are traveling and caught up in many activities. But rather than it being a whirlwind of busyness or stress that drains us, the Eight of Wands can help us prioritize and organize so that we are moving forward, not round in circles.

Thus we are about to meet all our goals. The wands are headed downward, straight for their target. If your aim has been true, successful completion lies directly ahead.

This week, let your joyful soul full of music break the air!

    Eight = octave

I was trying to find a musical connection. To the cosmic Law of Octaves.

Do – Re – Mi (interval) Fa – Sol – La – Si (interval) Do.

    But could not see it.

There are two intervals between the wands. But then the other three on top wouln’t make sense.

It is interesting that this card is coming up often. Maybe no people or animals is that it is a card of basic energy to be used by each of us.

    Joyous holiday!

Ha! It does look a bit like musical notation, Arie! Very cool idea..

And yes, Deerdancer; I like your interpretation! Pure basic energy for us to use as we need it!

    Blessings to you all!
