Inspiring Enchantment & Illumination with Tarot & Intuitive Guidance

Tarot Card of the Week – Oct. 13 – 19

The Empress
Ancient Mother, I hear you calling.
Ancient Mother, I hear your song.

Ancient Mother, I hear your laughter.

Ancient Mother, I taste your tears.

— Traditional

Here is a first since I began pulling the Card of the Week in 2005: The Empress. And she appears, I would dare say, precisely on time.

The Empress beckons us with all her voluptuous beauty – she is abundant, lush, and fertile. She offers us the pleasures, security and love of the Great Mother. She is Nature in all her glory. As Rachel Pollack so beautifully describes, she is not merely the forms of Nature, but the underlying principle of Life itself.

Beside her stands the great shield of Venus, for she is passionate Aphrodite. At her feet is a field of grain, for she is the Goddess who rules agriculture — Ceres, Demeter, Corn Mother, the Grain Goddess.

Her necklace holds nine pearls, for the nine planets. And her crown is a circlet of six-pointed stars, each representing the twelve signs of the zodiac. This hexagram is familiar to many as the Star of David, and also recognized as the ancient Seal of Solomon. It is also the intertwining of two triangles, combining the magical, alchemical symbols for masculine Fire and feminine Water.

The appearance of the Empress this week seems auspicious and very important. The entire globe is hypnotized by the economic crisis. To what extent are our problems rooted in the ways we have foolishly exploited our Mother Earth’s resources? Could our troubles have to do with how we have forgotten our interconnectedness with one another and dishonored our relationship with Nature?

On a personal basis, the Empress often indicates a pregnancy and the importance of children in our lives. These children may be human, or they may be our creative expressions, projects, or ideas. This is a time for nurturing, nesting, and building a secure, wholesome environment for you and your loved ones. Beauty, sensuousness, and earthly pleasures are the focus this week, and there is also an emphasis on making good choices for a healthier life.

The Empress, as the Great Mother, offers unconditional love to all her children. She is the source of all abundance, beauty, health and life. She teaches us that our wealth is our diversity and that love is the law.
Humanity’s old, sad history of lack, and not enough to go around is only a myth, perpetuated by systems of war, greed and imbalance. When we live in harmony with the loving guidance of the Empress, such myths are dispelled.

This week, embrace the beauty and splendor of the world around you. Receive what is given with gratitude, share what you have with generosity and joy, and make it a priority to personally restore your own sense of respect and harmony with the lush, bountiful goodness that, in fact, surrounds you.

Lovely lovely card for this week. 🙂 I just did a blog on food and Tarot and the Empress paired up with a bread recipe. Abundance indeed

What most catches my eye today in this card is the flowing water. Without water nothing can grow. As I live in the land of Canaan which is getting dry, I wish lots of rain this week and this winter.
Let the rivers be purified and carry clean water.
May I suggest you have a look at this site:
It shows how poluted water can be purified when exposed to positive thinking.

The upside down triangle is one of the oldest Goddess symbols in this region.

Oh, wonderful. I’ll give Fortuna a bit of extra attention this week! (Though She gets a bunch, anyhoo… 😉
