While I do believe that gratitude is central to the healing and change we need, and that fear is self-defeating, being well-informed and aware is critical. Gratitude also needs action.
And we have to know and tell the truth.
I have to also ask why Global Climate Change is not the NUMBER ONE topic for the upcoming election. It’s barely being discussed.
Last night, I nearly fainted when McCain and Obama were talking about expanding nuclear power, offshore drilling, so-called “clean coal” (an oxymoron if there ever was one), and the ongoing use of fossil fuels, as if they are our bridge to the future.
With apologies to Sarah Palin, but that is a bridge to NOWHERE. As evidence, I present the following:

It turns out that the way we have been calculating the future impacts of climate change up to now has been missing a really important piece of the picture. It seems we are now dangerously close to the tipping point in the world’s climate system; this is the point of no return, after which truly catastrophic changes become inevitable.
