Today’s little bit of magic is three-fold. First, I am glad to let you know that the Mercury retrograde that has possibly been playing havoc with your computer, interpersonal communications, travel plans, and legal matters is finally over! Since June 16, the planet that rules communication, commerce, technology and travel has been in reverse (not literally, of course, but from our point of view on Earth).
Last night, it “stationed direct,” so, like a car switching from reverse to forward, there can sometimes be a bit of a whiplash effect, but it should only be temporary and things will begin to smooth out considerably in the days to come. For additional insight, including information about all the other intense retrogrades currently in progress, I recommend my friend Lynn Hayes’ blog.
Secondly, I am so delighted that tonight at midnight is the big premiere of the next Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I wish I could stay up for it, but I am saving my somewhat limited staying-up-past-midnight superpowers for next week, when, as in the past four releases, I will be standing in line at my local independent bookstore for the final Harry Potter book (note the counter in the sidebar). For those of you heading for the theater in the next few days, have a fantastic time!
Lastly, in the spirit of this week’s Tarot card, let us celebrate the exquisite pleasure and magic of July. Extravagant, wild, sublime, let the sun pour over your sweet skin. Revel in how the hot, humid breath of July plays with your hair like a lover, perhaps flattening it damp against your skull, or unleashing helpless coils of curls that you have worked so hard to tame.
Linger at the farmers’ produce stands, breathing in the musky fragrance of ripe tomatoes, sweet melons, and the spicy tang of bouquets of marigolds for sale. Listen to the distant roar of the sea in a seashell. Hear the tinkling of a silver spoon stirring a pitcher of homemade lemonade. When was the last time you tasted the nectar of honeysuckle, or blew on a blade of grass like a whistle? Inhale the sweetness of newly cut grass, exhale in the glory of the flaming sunset, dance to the music of cicadas and katydids.
Wild, erotic, juicy with ripening delight, every moment of this time beckons us with the truest magic we can ever know. Over the coming days, let us celebrate and weave our Summer spells together.
