Depending on where you happen to be riding on our globe, this is the 2nd Full Moon of May. For some folks, depending on the time zone, its fullness comes June 1, which makes June 30 your second Full Moon in a month. In any case, a second Full Moon in a calendar month is a Blue Moon.
And this Sagittarius Full Moon is such a juicy one!
One of my favorite astrologers, Lynn Monson Hayes has written a fascinating article about how this Full Moon is in powerful astrological synchronicity with our Tarot Card of the Week, the Knight of Wands.
She also notes, “This Full Moon is full of abundance and opportunity: falling in the adventurous sign of Sagittarius and conjunct Jupiter, there is no end in sight to the bounty that this Full Moon offers. A sextile from Chiron to the Jupiter/Moon conjunction shows that there is healing and a softening of our fears (Chiron) that hold us back from feeling safe enough to trust life to take care of us (Jupiter/Moon).
“I am just beginning to work with Ceres again after a long hiatus,” she continues, “but an exact trine from Ceres to Pluto on the 31st adds a deeper level to this Full Moon event, highlighting our need to feel secure and nourished by our life on earth. Ceres is the Great Mother who gives more than emotional sustenance – she also gives us our physical life on Planet Earth. This Full Moon gives us the opportunity to recognize the interconnectedness of all things and our place in the world: a renewed awareness of the meaning of life for us as individuals and our world as a whole.”
Lisa Dale Miller agrees, writing, “Sagittarius represents idealism, faith, enthusiasm, the quest for meaning, and a generosity of spirit. The Full Moon in Sagittarius is an invitation to bask in the light of some good old-fashioned Jupiterian optimism and joy!”
“This is a great Full Moon,” she urges, “to make a bonfire, gather friends and loved ones to tell stories of worlds seen and unseen. Share experiences of other cultures and far away places, or share your spiritual insights and speak about the paths and belief systems that worked and those that didn’t. Be honest!”
If that was not lovely enough, she goes on to note that, “A ‘holy trinity’ of Jupiter, Moon, and Pluto in Sagittarius offer up a gateway to very real experiences of the Divine, as it is from the dark depths to the highest aspirations.” And speaking of the many faces of the Divine, don’t forget that the last day of every month is sacred to Hecate.
The Triple faced Goddess of Witches and Queen of the Night guards all travelers and crossroads. She teaches us the ancient Mysteries of birth, death and rebirth. Honor Her tonight by giving to those who are marginalized in our society. Visit Her at the sacred crossroads, and with Her blessings, dare to see by the light of the Moon into your own deepest truths.
