The celebration of Brighid and Imbolc is an ancient Fire Festival, when the dying of the year is clearly being overcome by the first glimmers of Spring’s return; when the Goddess as ancient Crone is reborn as the young Maiden. Now is the time when we discover, as if for the first time, that the creative energy of the life force is strong within us.
What is that life force, exactly? By what name do you understand it? For many are its names, including Qi (or “chi”) that I’ve been discussing in my previous posts about feng shui. We may also experience is as flow, creative energy, God, Goddess, Soul, Source, or Higher Power.
I like one of Julia Cameron’s, in her classic book The Artist’s Way. She gives it an acronym: Good Orderly Direction. It is a form of spiritual electricity that animates us and, even more, drives us to be creators. For, she points out, the deep yearning in each of us to create – whether from the urge to paint, to planting petunias, to the urge to make babies – comes from a divine source, or perhaps you’d rather call it your own deepest nature.
In any case, we know it as the Creator within. She puts it this way: “If you think of the Universe as a vast electrical sea in which you are immersed and from which you are formed, opening to your creativity changes you from something bobbing in that sea to a more fully functioning, more conscious, more cooperative part of that ecosystem.”
May this awakening time lead you to new dreams and creative yearnings that sparkle and shine!
