The Gayatri Mantra
This Sanskrit prayer of praise is at least 2,500 and 3,500 years old.
In the ancient Vedas, it was said that, “To chant the Gayatri Mantra purifies the chanter. To listen to the Gayatri Mantra purifies the listener.”
The video features my favorite version of this beautiful devotion.
Om Bhoor Bhuvah Suvah
Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayat…
The simplest translation would be along the lines of, “May the divine light of the Supreme Being illuminate our intellect, to lead us along a path of righteousness.”
I particularly love the translation provided by the artist who sings and drums in this video, my friend, Willow Firefly Kelly.
May there be harmony between the mortal, immortal, and divine planes.
Meditate on the most brilliant splendor of the Sun God.
May He stimulate our intellect and inspire us
to take the right action, at the right time.
A number of us are singing it every day (indefinitely), as a part of a global healing circle. Although this working has been organized on my behalf, I also know that the nature of a magical circle is that it benefits all.
Please join us daily, at 10am (your local time) if you would like.
My deepest thanks to one and all.
