The most beautiful and most profound emotion we can experience is the sensation of the mystical. It is the sower of all true science.
~ Albert Einstein, Pisces Sun and Midheaven
The Sun moves into the sign of Pisces today!
This begins the final countdown before the final New Year celebration of the year — the astrological new year, when the Sun moves from Pisces into the sign of Aries.
So, astrologer Molly Hall explains, “As the last of the twelve Zodiac signs, Pisces is said to contain aspects of them all. This makes the Pisces Sun [person] so changeable as to appear not to have one singular identity. It’s as if they’re just touching down in this human reality, and light enough to try on a few personas.
“Those with the Sun in Pisces can be so dreamy as to seem ‘somewhere else’ half the time. They’re tuned into the spiritual side of things, and this gives them an otherworldly air. It can seem that they’re always sensing the emotional currents that run between people, as well as those connecting us to the great beyond.”
Astrologer Pat Paquette reminds us that, “Pisces isn’t the Fish, but the Fishes. There are two of them, tied together and swimming in opposite directions…All the signs of the zodiac have a ‘positive’ side and a ‘negative’ side (from the human perspective), but none is as polarized as Pisces. Yet, it is also the sign of unity consciousness, where duality dissolves and the illusion of separateness disappears.”
If you were born under the sign of Pisces, you are probably well known for your open, compassionate heart, which can be a good thing, but sometimes, not so much.
When romantic Pisces feels rejected or gets the blues, they can go seriously downhill. Because of this, and because they tend towards an addictive, compulsive nature, Pisces needs to be especially wary of using drugs, food, personal drama, or alcohol for escape or distraction.
As Jon Cainer notes, “It sometimes seems that everyone who needs a shoulder to cry on or someone to confide in selects one of these gentle, approachable people.
“Unfortunately, Pisceans tend to absorb emotional energy rather like a sponge and eventually, it seeps out in the form of nervous energy and a desire to retreat into the world of imagination. This is why Pisceans are often prone to overindulge their senses in an attempt to escape from their own sensitivity. They love to fantasize. Their ruling planet is Neptune.”
How the Sun in Pisces Affects Everyone (Feb. 18-March 20)
During this period, we are all experiencing some of the most ethereal energy of the year.
Dreams may be especially vivid and prophetic. And we may be unusually attuned to our compassionate, empathic gifts during this time.
This is an ideal opportunity to cultivate your intuitive skills (like learning to read the Tarot!), explore your artistic side, and seek mystical wisdom.
There is likely to be a greater emphasis on sensitivity and compassion. Altruism comes more naturally, and we may be less physically active.
Listen to your inner guidance and trust your deep, instinctive wisdom. You may be inclined to over-indulge, or throw yourself a pity-party, especially if something comes up that tempts you to feel like a victim.
Instead, choose the higher gifts of Pisces, turning any setbacks into an opportunity to stretch your capacity for kindliness and understanding.
This is the last month of the astrological year, and so it is also a time for us to conclude the lessons and work we have been doing since last Spring. Tapping into the Piscean dream-time energy, you might wish to trance journey, to access the hidden worlds of imagination and magic, as you prepare for the upsurge of Aries energy at Equinox.
May the days of Pisces be blessed with peace and benevolence for all.
Do you have a friend or loved one with a Pisces Birthday (between February 18 and March 20)? Or maybe you are a gentle Pisces who is seeking more depth and juiciness in your life.
Why not join my Birthday Club? Treat yourself (or your Piscean friends) to a full year of ideas, activities, and affirmations designed to inspire the dreams that are so vital to a Pisces’ poetic soul.
