Inspiring Enchantment & Illumination with Tarot & Intuitive Guidance

Tarot Card for Equinox and the New Libra Moon, Sept. 22-28, 2014

Knight of Wands

There is no personal charm so great as the charm of a cheerful temperament.
~ Henry Van Dyke

As we observe the sabbat of Mabon this week, plus the arrival of the New Moon, it promises to be an intense week. So it’s perhaps no wonder that the Knight of Wands has burst onto the scene!

The Wands suit, of course, is connected to the element of Fire, action, will, and energy. And the Knights of the Tarot are always how that suit is put into action.

King of WandsThe plumes from the Knight’s helmet and shirt look like flames, and he wears the symbol of the salamander, the mystical creature of Fire. Unlike the symbols on the King of Wands’ robe, however, his are open, without the tail connected to the mouth, representing incomplete plans, loose ends.

The Knight is just at the beginning of his adventure, whereas the King has arrived at his mastery and accomplishment. The Knight’s horse rears up, eager to explode into action, dashing off to the quest; the King commands from his throne.

The Knight of Wands is spontaneous, hot-headed, charismatic, fearless, quick to laugh or anger, and a creative blaze of activity. He is often charming, and pulsing with sexual energy. But he is also extremely loyal to his, understandably, huge circle of friends.

While he can be impulsive and unpredictable, he takes his honor and integrity absolutely to heart, and has the potential to be a true heroic figure.

Courage and Daring

This week, boredom will be in short supply. With the arrival of both Autumn (or Springtime, if you are living below the Equator) and the New Moon in Libra, this is an ideal time to begin a quest, set out on a new adventure, or perhaps commit to a creative project.

Don’t fight change, embrace it. Better yet, be the instigator, as long as the cause is right.

This is probably not the best time for multi-tasking – the Knight of Wands can be prone to burnout and distraction. He is much happier (and effective) when he is focused, all his intensity like a laser beam of light and passion. When this is the case, there is no limit to the achievements possible.

Just watch your temper. With Mercury moving into Scorpio on the 27th, communication and attitudes can be very intense. The Knight has a tendency to act first and ask questions later, which could be a volatile recipe under this influence.

Passion and Adventure Are Calling

Instead, if challenges come your way this week, be of good cheer. You can melt even the coldest and most stubborn hearts with your humor, creativity, and optimism. Face any obstacles head on, remembering always to be chivalrous and honorable. You can afford to be generous with others, for you have energy and goodness to spare.

Tap into the fiery places that are your energy source and that fill you with passion. Then streak ahead to your goal. No hedging, no self-doubts; now is the time to give it your all!

Wherever you live, whether you are bidding farewell to the light half of the year, or the dark, the tide has now turned. Remember that the name of this week’s Autumn Equinox sabbat, Mabon, comes from the Welsh word for hero.

It’s time for you to be the sunny, sizzling hero of your great saga.

Thanks so much for your perseverance in creating and keeping the light up for us all.

Oh, Elsa! Thank you. Well, a book may be in the works. Do you think other people might feel the same?

Beth, I don’t know about others but for me it is my readings that, especially when the days have too much confusion, meanness, selfishness, indifference and such, offer me words that, like a soft rain, sift through the layers and sustain a glow/glimpse/bubble of comfort, direction, purpose, new perspective, hope, gentleness, respect, love…
The brain wires by design to what “hit” us daily. How can we rewire to a “fresher” source? Reconnecting with “wholesome” words, for example.
