It’s the New Moon in beautiful Virgo – Earthy sign of, among other things, service, practicality, and organization. I love that this New Moon is in the midst of the harvest season, and the back-to-school kinds of new beginnings. (Am I the only one who gets high from walking around in the overflowing aisles of the office supply stores every year at this time?)

I love to connect with this New Moon each year by cleaning off my altars, tidying up my magical areas, and clearing the energy around the house and offerings areas.

It’s also perfect for gathering in my summer herbs, organizing, and inventorying my Owlsong Herbal Blessings supplies.

Now is also the time when I set my long-term goals, with my trusty new calendar planner. My Planner Pads

(I am no Luddite, but after extensive testing and observation, I have found that a paper calendar is faster, less buggy, and always more reliable than any app I have ever seen.  I really like the way my PlannerPad drills down my to-do list and keeps me on task. I order my new one each year so it coincides with my own New Year at Samhain).

In addition, my friend Rhea Wolf has this to say about it:

What are you planning to do with what’s been handed down through the generations? Whether you got a lousy inheritance or a vast treasure of resources, strip it down to its core and work down to the roots.

“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”

“It’s not about how much you do, but how much love you put into what you do that counts.”

And my friend and awesome astrologer Lynn Hayes offers lots more juicy insight on her newly revamped website:

New Virgo MoonVirgo New Moon, September 5 2013:
Perfecting the human experience

by Lynn Hayes

The Moon is new in Virgo on September 5th at 7:36 am Eastern time. At the New Moon the energy of the Sun and Moon unite in a burst of enthusiasm, and each month as the New Moon progresses through the signs we have an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the principles of each sign in sequence.

At the Virgo New Moon we move out of the Leo quest for personal satisfaction and find a desire to serve and perfect the human experience.

Under Virgo’s vision we are able… (click here to continue)

Wheel of the YearIn whatever ways you can, I hope you will pause on this magical day. Give honor and thanks to your Divine Ones, for this is the seed of the lunation that will take us across the threshold of the Equinox.

May your rites be richly blessed.

LOL! I can’t help it either. I mean really – when they have 5 spiral notepads for a buck?? Or buy one get one 12-packs of colored pens?? It’s like nerdy crack! 🙂

I *love* this time of year! I have always thought of this time as being the “start” of the year. More so than January or even my own birthday. I just feel that everything seems so fresh and new, even though the leaves on the trees are telling me otherwise.

And yes, I am an office supply junkie too! Being an office manager allows me the excuse to place lots and lots of orders 😉

Christine – I so agree! It so tough try to start a new year after the holidays leave us bedraggled, broke, and facing the long, long nights of Winter.

This is just SO much better for being re-energized, ready to focus and be productive. Virgo definitely knows what She is about!

ps: Ohhhh.. Lucky you.. But wow, that would be such a dangerous job!! It’s bad enough being my own boss and hitting Staples with my own list!
