Inspiring Enchantment & Illumination with Tarot & Intuitive Guidance

Tarot Card of the Week: January 16-22, 2012 – The World

Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world;
The heart has its beaches, its homeland and thoughts of its own.
Wake now, discover that you are the song that the morning brings;
The heart has its seasons, its evenings and songs of its own.
~ Eyes of the World, by Robert Hunter, Jerry Garcia

For such a rare, powerful card, we certainly do keep getting this one lately. In these last days before the new beginnings of the Lunar New Year, the Year of the Dragon, The World comes dancing.

The World is, arguably, the most important card of the Tarot, since it is the triumphant finish of the Fool’s Journey in the Major Arcana.   It is the summation of all, indicating that there is a great completion that is occurring, the ending of a huge cycle.

Here we see the evergreen wreath of the natural world, in an eternal circle, symbol of the Divine Feminine.  It is wrapped at the top and bottom with root chakra red sashes tied in the cosmic lemniscate infinity symbol.

Tarot expert Rachel Pollack describes this card as, “a freedom and rapture beyond words,” and famed scholar Robert Place writes that, “We are viewing God’s throne, situated in the center of the fourfold world…It is the One, the Good, and the Beautiful.”

With this appearing at such a powerful moment, we would be wise to recognize that a remarkable conclusion is now upon us. It is time to receive closure, if that means understanding why things have had to be as they have.

After trials, tribulations, and a profound period of initiation, The World is the true understanding and experiencing of the full circle of wholeness.

In what ways can The World help you find important balance within all the complexity and even ambiguity that has surrounded an important issue for you? In what ways do you need to see, not only the end of the story, but the “why” of it?

Here is the Creatrix, The Source, the Foundation from which we have come, to which we shall return and of which we have always been a part. This is the cosmic dance and the Dancer.  This is Shiva/Pavarti –  the life force celebrating itself in perfect balance and acceptance; nothing less than the Alpha and Omega of All.

She is the High Priestess and Magician combined. She is the Hanged Man now upright, and revealing a wand in each hand. She is male and female; she is art combined with magic. She is the Tree of Life, surrounded by angel, eagle, bull and lion. The World is the potential, the physical manifestation, and the completion of all possibilities.

She reminds us that we are the summation of our interconnected consciousness. What we believe affects the deepest definition of what is. Reality truly is consensual. This is what quantum physics tells us, what swamis and adepts and saints have preached for millennia.

So, if this is true, how might it change the way you live and the way you think about yourself in relation to The World?

If you stumbled upon the revelation that your own hands are the living hands of the Creator, that within your heart beats the flaming wild life-desire of Deity Herself, and that in your blood flows all compassion and healing — how might your life change? How are you now invited to awaken and discover that yours are the eyes of the world?

Look around you and know that nationality, race, politics, faith, and all the fascinating, interesting systems in which humans arrange and ally themselves may camouflage our true nature. Instead, consider that each of us is an individual expression of the Great Divine experiencing Him/Herself. And this is also true of every other living being.

What if we all lived this with all our mind, body and spirit?

Embrace and celebrate this powerful gift, my dear friends. As la Bella Luna wanes and vanishes before the explosive celebrations next week, look about you and see what it is time to complete forever. Yet at the same time, do not lose sight that what has been lost may now return once more, in love.

Before you start the Next Big Thing, honor what has been achieved. Reveal without shame, but with joy, exactly who you are, for you are interconnected to All.

Spend time considering how you fit into the Circle of Life that is the great, living, whole entity we call The World. How would you like to heal and enhance this dance with Her?

This week, hand in hand, you and I — let us love The World into being.

    I love that this card is appearing on Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

    This reminds me of a trance I did, some years ago, into this card.
    It was a stargate and the Star Goddess took me out to the stars. Her energy filled my body and my third eye.

    Hi Beth,
    Many thanks for this totally apposite post.You talk about a completion through the symbolism of the World card. Synchronistically,I wrote on my Hare in the Moon Astrology Facebook page today about the end of 2 very important cycles:Saturn reaching the exact degree of the last Saturn/Pluto conjunction in 1982 (29 degrees of Libra) and Neptune at the last degree of Aquarius.We have the end of both a 28 and 14 year outer planet cycle.How remarkable!The message is to look back to both 1982 and 1997/8 to draw together the threads from those periods.Expect people and memories from those times to re-surface.Stay alert,tuned into yourself in order to care for your body,your projects and ultimately your destiny.

    Oh, me too, Carolyn!

    Arie — that sounds incredible! And it explains a lot about why you
    are who you are – wise, beautiful, and so amazing! No wonder! 🙂

    And wow! Thanks so much, Lorna! I was wondering if there were other astrological events in harmony with this, but didn’t know of any, other than the lunar new year. Fascinating!

    Hey, folks! Here is the link to her website, which is truly wonderful, overflowing with terrific information!

    hmm this is interesting. Today I was thinking about getting back to a certain creative endeavor that I kind of abandoned in 2011. Funny also New moon will conjunct my 4th house, and this endeavor is closely related to home life 🙂 The whole Rabbit year I was distracted with so many other things, and now this cycle is over, time to focus on domestic matters 🙂 this just go to be the most obvious sign! Thanks so much Beth!!
