Inspiring Enchantment & Illumination with Tarot & Intuitive Guidance

Third Sunday of Our Advent Prayer Circle

Tonight we light the third candle in our Solstice Sunwheel or Advent wreath, or whatever you prefer to call it.

This is a global prayer circle which is being held around sunset on each of the four Sundays preceding Winter Solstice. Our intention is to honor the great celebration of the rebirth of the Light. This can refer to the advent (which means approach) of Christmas, or the Winter Solstice, depending on your preferences.

Remember – you can join us any time.  So if you have missed the first two lightings, no problem!  I have provided links to the first two weeks further down this post.  And you can go here to read the overview information.  This also means you can still invite your friends and loved ones to join us!

In some Christian traditions, tonight’s third candle symbolizes Joy. For many Witches and Pagans, this candle may represent the qualities of the third Element, Water.  This would encompass all the realms of our emotions. It also includes the gifts of healing, love, intuition, dreams, receptivity, and compassion.

Tonight, preferably in a darkened room around sunset, make time and room for sacred space. Remember that you are joined in this work by men and women (and children, too!) of many paths, from many lands. So you may wish to extend a welcome to them.

When you are ready, first light the candle you lit two weeks ago, once again focusing on the intention with which you have charged it. Then light the second candle from last week, welcoming its energy.  If this is your first night joining us, simply start with those.

Then, when the time feels right, light tonight’s candle and call in whatever magic and power you wish for it to represent in your spell-prayer.  If there is a song, or a chant you know of that is appropriate to the meaning with which you will empower this candle, please share it.  Or if you prefer, it would also be appropriate to list all the qualities within this candle’s meaning, for which you give thanks.

And in harmony with our intention to become the shining Light, you may wish to make a promise or vow regarding how you will embody this candle’s gifts.

After a period of meditation and affirmation of your intention, extinguish each candle in reverse order, from tonight’s to last week’s to the first one.

May our words and desires be fulfilled for the good of all.  Blessed be.

Growing up Catholic….we always did the advent candles. I was the only girl and the third in the family line so I thought mom used the pink for me. Imagine my Aries surprise when I found out that the colors always worked in this order…

Ha! That’s funny, Nancy (why am I not surprised you are an Aries!). 🙂

Thanks so much for sharing that and for joining our circle.
