Winter

The flowers call
Their last farewell

To the woods

As winter comes

To wilt their petals.

The snow falls
Upon brown leaves

Fallen on the roofs

Of houses strung

With sparkling lights.

The crisp air
And glittering frost

The little puffs of breath

And mugs of steamy tea

Only come in winter.
